Minister should take occasion (without at the present

moment referring specifically to this Working Agreement,

and thereby making it appear that we are asking any favours

in regard to it) to remind the Chinese Government that the

"extraordinary act of friendship" which stands to the

credit of this Colony has not met with due reciprocity. I

attach notes of a conversation with Mr. Mayers, the new

representative of the British and Chinese Corporation.
